VTU CGPA to Percentage: Compare the 2018 and 2022 Schemes

A scheme year is not the same thing as a student’s graduation year.

VTU conversion guide showing % = CGPA × 10 and an illustrative 8.00 CGPA to 80.00% calculation.
Illustration of the B.E./B.Tech — 2022 regulations method. Other programme or regulation options may use a different rule.

Which record does this guide cover?

VTU B.E./B.Tech 2018 and 2022 regulations use different conversion expressions. Find the regulation printed on your academic record before selecting the calculator option. Someone graduating in a recent year can still have a record governed by an earlier scheme.

These presets cover the two named B.E./B.Tech schemes only. A regulation year is not the same as your graduation year. Match the scheme printed in your academic records; other schemes and degrees require their own rules.

Worked example using the supported expression

For 8.20 CGPA, the selected rule gives 82.00%. Keep the original grade-point value and the rule label together so that the saved result can be checked against its source.

Worked calculation summary
CGPA Equivalent percentage
6.00 60.00%
7.00 70.00%
8.00 80.00%
9.00 90.00%

Percentage = CGPA × 10

Compare the supported options before choosing

Different presets represent different scopes. The comparison below is an arithmetic illustration; it does not let you choose a rule on the basis of the higher result.

Worked calculation summary
Rule or scope Example input Example result
B.E./B.Tech — 2022 regulations 8.00 80.00%
B.E./B.Tech — 2018 OBE/CBCS regulations 8.00 72.50%

Keep a usable report

Save the PDF with the original academic record when you need a portable calculation. Print report prepares the same calculation for paper; Download image produces a PNG. The source and scope are part of the report, so keep them visible when explaining the result.

Share opens a preview. It starts with the tool link; Include current result adds the entered values and calculation details. Review that preview before sharing. Website reports are independent calculations and do not replace certificates issued by the awarding institution.

Questions about this VTU calculation

Can I use graduation year to select a VTU scheme?

Use the academic regulation recorded for your programme. Graduation year alone does not identify the applicable 2018 or 2022 scheme.

Can one semester’s GPA stand in for the final result?

Use the period and metric requested by the application. A semester average and a cumulative record can describe different courses; calculate a credit-weighted average only under the relevant academic rules.
