IIT Guwahati CPI Percentage: Check the Graduation-Date Boundary

IIT Guwahati’s public certificate uses CPI and identifies a graduation-date boundary. The same arithmetic appears in two contexts, so the reason for using the result should remain visible.

Official source and supported scope

The certificate dated 4 November 2025 cites the 128th Senate resolution of 14 June 2017. It says the approved conversion rule applies to students graduating after that date. For earlier graduates, it records a recommendation to multiply by 10 where an organisation requires conversion, while describing the earlier position that no conversion formula existed.

The 4 November 2025 certificate gives numerical percentage =CPI×10. Its note says the Senate-approved rule applies to students graduating after 14 June 2017; for earlier graduates it records the institute’s recommendation of ×10 where an organisation requires conversion. The two presets preserve that distinction. The institute does not award class or division.

Worked examples and common mistakes

At 8.00 CPI, the numerical comparison is 80.00%. That number does not create a class or division: the certificate explicitly says the institute does not award them. Check the programme’s original graduation conditions independently, and select the preset that matches the graduation record.

Save PDF, print, download an image or share

A valid result enables Download PDF, Print report and Download image. The PDF and PNG retain the input, selected rule, result and source so you can explain the calculation later. The report is independent and does not replace a university-issued certificate.

Share opens a preview with the tool link by default. Choose Include current result if you want the calculation details added, and check the preview before sending it through your preferred app.

Questions about this conversion

Does 80% establish a first-class IIT Guwahati degree?

No. The certificate says IIT Guwahati does not award class or division. A numerical percentage should not be used to invent a classification.

Does the converted percentage reveal my exact subject marks?

No. A cumulative equivalent cannot reconstruct the exact marks for individual papers. Use the original transcript when actual marks are required.
