GTU Percentage Conversion: Choose the Correct CPI or CGPA

An index label can change which part of a GTU record belongs in the calculation.

GTU conversion guide showing % = CGPA × 10 − 5 and an illustrative 8.00 CGPA to 75.00% calculation.
Illustration of the CPI/CGPA covered by Notification 1 of 2012 method. Other programme or regulation options may use a different rule.

Which record does this guide cover?

GTU Notification 1 of 2012 distinguishes CPI and CGPA according to course duration and degree-index rules. Locate the correct final index instead of averaging all semester figures indiscriminately. The percentage expression should be applied to the index defined for your course.

Use the correct index from the official record. This notification distinguishes CGPA for longer courses and CPI for two-year courses; check which semesters form the degree index rather than averaging all semesters without regard to the regulation.

Worked example using the supported expression

For 8.20 CGPA, the selected rule gives 77.00%. Keep the original grade-point value and the rule label together so that the saved result can be checked against its source.

Keep a usable report

Save the PDF with the original academic record when you need a portable calculation. Print report prepares the same calculation for paper; Download image produces a PNG. The source and scope are part of the report, so keep them visible when explaining the result.

Share opens a preview. It starts with the tool link; Include current result adds the entered values and calculation details. Review that preview before sharing. Website reports are independent calculations and do not replace certificates issued by the awarding institution.

Questions about this GTU calculation

Can I average every semester GPA before converting GTU grades?

Only if the applicable regulation defines that as the correct degree index. Use the official CPI or CGPA requested by the notification.

Can one semester’s GPA stand in for the final result?

Use the period and metric requested by the application. A semester average and a cumulative record can describe different courses; calculate a credit-weighted average only under the relevant academic rules.
