Semester History: Track Your GPA and Credits

Save individual semester GPAs and their credits to compare your academic progress. The combined CGPA shown here weights each saved semester by its credits rather than giving every semester equal weight.

The semester GPA tracker keeps a simple local record of results saved from the CGPA calculator. It is useful for comparing academic terms and exporting a summary. Records belong to the browser and device where they were saved; there is no student account or cloud backup.

Use the semester history

How to use the semester history

Three ivory semester notebooks beside an indigo progress chart with lavender milestones.
Keep individual semester GPAs and credits together to compare your academic progress.
  1. Open the CGPA calculator and enter the subjects, grades and credits for one semester.
  2. Add a report name, such as Semester 2, so the record is easy to identify.
  3. Choose Save current semester. This saves the semester GPA and semester credits, not the earlier credits entered for cumulative calculations.
  4. Open Semester history from the top menu to view the saved records and the combined CGPA.
  5. Use Remove to delete an incorrect or duplicate record. Download PDF or Print report to keep a separate copy before clearing browser data.

Formula and calculation method

Combined saved CGPA = Σ(saved semester GPA × saved semester credits) ÷ Σ(saved semester credits). Each saved semester’s underlying calculated GPA is used before the displayed two-decimal rounding.

Worked example

Suppose Semester 1 has GPA 8.00 across 20 credits and Semester 2 has GPA 9.00 across 30 credits. The combined result is (8 × 20 + 9 × 30) ÷ 50 = 8.60. A simple average of the two displayed GPAs would be 8.50, which ignores the different credit loads.

Avoid saving the same semester twice

Every saved entry contributes its credits to the combined result. Saving one semester twice counts it twice. Give each semester a clear name and remove duplicates before relying on the total. If your institution changes a grade after a retake, remove the outdated entry and save the corrected result.

Understand local browser storage

The history uses local storage on this website. It normally remains available after a page reload, but another browser, device or private browsing session will not share it. Clearing site data, switching domains or browser storage restrictions can remove or prevent saved records. Export important results separately.

What the tracker does and does not preserve

A history record stores the semester name, calculated semester GPA and credits. It does not preserve a full editable transcript or automatically retrieve results from a university system. Use the CGPA calculator’s subject-level report if you also need a record of the individual courses and grades.

Frequently asked questions

Why can I not see my saved semesters on another device?

Records are stored in the browser on the device where you saved them. They are not synchronized through an account.

Does previous CGPA get counted again when I save a semester?

No. Saving records only the current semester GPA and its credits. The combined history calculation uses the individual saved semesters.

Can I recover a removed semester?

There is no undo or account backup. Re-enter the semester in the CGPA calculator and save it again if you still have its grades and credits.

These tools provide planning estimates. Your institution’s current academic regulations, grading policy and official records take priority.
